The RoleADD VALUE - THE ROLEWorking within Council's Development and Environment Group, responsible for providing a progressive, relevant system that enhances social, economic and environmental land use development, the Cadet Building Surveyor is responsible for supporting the assessment of building applications in accordance with relevant legislation & Council policies.Key responsibilities include:Support building certifiers, the Regulatory Team Leader and the Coordinator Regulatory Services in the assessment of building applications within statutory timeframes under direction, the preparation of professional reports and correspondence, and undertake compliance and other statutory functions, as delegatedParticipate in the provision of customer services, under supervision from a building certifier, team leader or the coordinator regulatory servicesParticipating in administrative training as required to fulfil the role functions, including Council's corporate systems and the NSW Planning PortalUndertaking administrative tasks in accordance with approved procedures to understand the process of development assessmentUndertaking supervised inspectionsTo be considered for this role you will need to be currently enrolled, and studying in an Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying, or equivalent qualification, in your second last or final year.
This cadetship is an opportunity to continue studying your qualification whilst you learn on-the-job, with options for flexibility in how that arrangement looks.Remuneration package for this position is based in accordance with the Local Government (state) Award in the range of $1176.80 - $1230.40 per week plus 12% superannuation.
