Offer description

Private Psychology Practice | Canberra (Isaacs) | Part-time, Onsite (4 days/week)

Evo Psychology is a private psychology practice based in Canberra. We are passionate about supporting diverse communities, including people who are neurodivergent and/or part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and we pride ourselves on creating a warm, inclusive, and affirming space for both clients and staff.

We're looking for a caring, capable Administration Assistant / Receptionist to join our small, supportive team. You'll be the first point of contact for clients and referrers, and a key part of ensuring our practice runs smoothly and ethically.

This is a permanent part-time, onsite role (3–4 days per week), ideal for someone with experience in medical, allied health, or similar administrative settings who values meaningful work and a positive team culture.

About Evo Psychology:

Evo Psychology has been providing psychological services to individuals and couples in Canberra for over 5 years. Our team includes psychologists, counsellors, and a part-time Practice Manager, working together in a collaborative and values-driven way.

We value openness, authenticity, and professionalism. We are proud of the safe, inclusive space we have created for our clients and our team, and we genuinely care about doing this work well and sustainably.

What this role involves (day to day)

* Welcoming clients and managing reception (in person, phone, and email)
* Booking, rescheduling, and managing appointments
* Processing payments and supporting Medicare/NDIS-related administration
* Liaising with clinicians and external referrers
* Managing inboxes, correspondence, and general practice administration
* Supporting smooth communication across the team

You won't be providing therapy or clinical advice. However, you will occasionally hear brief, high-level information about client concerns as part of scheduling and intake, so comfort working in a mental health setting is important.

Would you be a great fit for this role, our team and our clinic?

We're looking for someone who is:

* Warm, open-minded, and empathetic
* Professional, calm, and respectful in all interactions
* Self-motivated and proactive, with good follow-through
* Comfortable working in a mental health environment with compassion and discretion
* Clear in communication and open to feedback and learning
* Happy working as part of a small, collaborative team

We welcome applications from people of diverse backgrounds and identities, and are open to discussing reasonable workplace adjustments.

Essential Criteria:

* Confidence and sensitivity in supporting people of diverse backgrounds and identities including neurodivergent and/or LGBTQIA+ community
* Ability to communicate professionally about general mental health topics (e.g. brief presenting issues for admin purposes only)
* High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent computer and IT skills
* Ability to multitask, prioritise, and take ownership of tasks

Highly desirable:

* Experience in psychology, medical, or allied health administration
* Interest in or study within the mental health field
* Experience using practice management software (e.g. PowerDiary, Halaxy, Splose)
* Knowledge of Medicare Better Access, Eating Disorder Plans, and/or NDIS processes
* Understanding of the role and scope of psychologists and counsellors

Why work with us?

* Supportive, kind, and genuinely collaborative team
* Meaningful work with purpose and impact
* Above-award pay, recognising the emotional and professional demands of the role
* Role flexibility within a well-boundaried admin position
* A workplace that values humanity, humour, and mutual respect

How to apply

If this sounds like a place you'd feel proud to work, we'd love to hear from you.

Please email your resume and a brief cover letter with your responses to the two questions below (dot points are fine) to:

* What is it about this role, our clinic, or our team culture that excites you?
* Evo Psychology works with neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients. What does creating an inclusive and respectful environment mean to you in day-to-day work and how would you contribute to this?

Applications close: Friday 30th January 2026

Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.

Applications without a cover letter addressing the question above will not be considered.
