Your typical day as a Senior Policy Officer may include opportunities to:
- Provide policy advice to the Treasurer on complex policy proposals or issues relating to revenue legislation.
- Research the history and intent of legislative provisions, analyse legislation in other States, and collaborate with teams across QRO and other agencies.
- Prepare briefing notes, present your findings and make accurate and appropriate recommendations.
- Design changes to revenue legislation and instruct the Office of the Queensland Parliamentary Counsel on drafting.
- Review correspondence from taxpayers, their professional advisors and stakeholders on complex matters.
The role presents opportunity to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other team members as well as across the QRO, other agencies and Senior Executive leaders.
To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate:
- Excellence in problem solving and designing logical, practical and well-reasoned solutions.
- Highly developed ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply information to novel and complex situations.
- Strong legislative interpretation skills and experience working with complex legislation in a commercial law context.
- Possess the ability to work independently and autonomously and drive quality outcomes.
- Adaptability and resilience to manage workloads and competing priorities.
