About the Role:
Our client is looking for an experienced
Fitter Machinist
to join their team in the industrial, mining, and utilities sector. This is a hands-on role where you'll be assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical machinery and components used in essential operations. Key Responsibilities:
Fitting and Assembly
Interpret and study technical drawings and specifications to select appropriate materials, machining methods, and settings.
Precisely fit and assemble fabricated metal parts into final products or sub-assemblies.
Use precision instruments to inspect assembled components, ensuring they meet required tolerances and performance standards.
Operating and Maintaining Machines
Set up machining equipment, including guides, stops, and tool/die configurations, according to job specifications.
Operate a range of tools, including grinders, presses, cutting, and drilling machines, to form metal stock and castings to exact measurements.
Diagnose mechanical faults and perform routine operational maintenance, overhauls, and repairs on mechanical parts and fluid power systems.
Additional Technical Tasks
Install, cut, thread, and bend hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
Assist with the in office erection and commissioning of machinery and industrial equipment.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in accordance with health and safety procedures.
Skills & Experience:
Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or equivalent).
Proven experience in fitting, assembly, and machining work within industrial, mining, or utility environments.
Robust knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and documentation.
Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
Robust commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
