The SES Resourcing unit is responsible for the research, development and provision of operational equipment to the Queensland SES, the administration of contracts associated with the delivery of major equipment, the management of the registration and insurance of the SES vessel and vehicle fleet and the administration of the compliance requirements set by AMSA in relation to SES vessels.

Your Key Accountabilities

* Contribute to the development and maintenance of Vessel Safety Management Systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including SES policies and procedures.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of vessel replacement programs and refit projects.
* Prepare, analyse and review reports, including Designated Person reporting, submissions and other correspondence on a range of initiatives to ensure quality outcomes and the successful delivery of objectives.
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders and vendors to ensure the SES vessel fleet meet current and future needs.
* Coordinate and contribute to the management of communication and liaison between internal and external stakeholders on issues and initiatives pertaining to the SES vessel fleet.
* Assist in the development and establishment of frameworks for implementing a sustainable and modern vessel fleet asset management model addressing varied and geographically diverse risk profiles of Queensland communities.


Role Requirements


Mandatory

* Possession of Open 'C' Class Queensland Drivers Licence.


Qualification

Commercial AMSA Qualifications (Master <24/MED 3 or above) is highly desirable.


Technical/Operational/Educational experience

* Knowledge and experience with marine vessel maintenance and operations.
* Understanding of, and ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of regulations and standards relating to the compliance of Domestic Commercial Vessels under the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
* Knowledge and experience and/or qualifications in project management methodologies.
* Knowledge and/or experience in developing business improvement strategies within a complex service delivery environment.


Other

* This role is a designated SES uniformed position.
* Capacity to work on night and/or weekend to suite an SES volunteer environment.
* It is expected the incumbent will participate in an out-of-hours on-call roster during emergency operations. This may require work outside of normal hours (e.g. night shift), including weekends, working extended hours and may include travel to rural and remote communities, intrastate or interstate travel as necessary and/or deployment activities to other parts of the state.

Applications remain current for 12 months.
