An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic and committed Head of School to lead the continued growth and development of Indie School Albury—an established and thriving campus within our multi-campus network, catering to students in Years 9–12 and accredited for the RoSA and HSC. This role is to commence Term 4, 2025.

Reporting to the Executive Principal – NSW, the Head of School is responsible for overseeing all aspects of teaching and learning, student wellbeing, and day-to-day operations of the Albury campus, while working collaboratively within the broader Indie School community across the state.

At Indie School, we create supportive and inclusive learning environments for students who may not have found success in mainstream settings. Through individualised learning plans, small class sizes, and a strong focus on relationships, students are empowered to reconnect with education, build confidence, and realise their potential.

Core Workplace Objectives


1. Drive the implementation of approved Development Plans and continue to lead the Indie School model of a thriving, student-focused learning environment.
2. Support a culture of continuous improvement by leading the implementation and proactive review of school policies and procedures, offering constructive recommendations to the Executive Principal for ongoing enhancement.
3. Lead the development of the Annual Campus Report, celebrating successes, reflecting on progress, and identifying opportunities for further growth and innovation.
4. Foster a high-performing, supportive team culture through purposeful staff recruitment aligned with the Development Plan, meaningful performance development conversations, and timely guidance to promote professional growth and accountability.


Workplace Tasking & Key Responsibilities


1. Ensure full compliance with Indie School's operating procedures through the effective development, implementation, and ongoing review of school policies.
2. Lead the daily operations of the allocated campus(es), ensuring high-quality support for both students and staff.
3. Manage a dynamic and multi-faceted school environment with clearly defined objectives, teams, and significant resource allocation.
4. Analyse operational efficiency using a proactive, solution-focused approach, with a strong emphasis on quality assurance and compliance.
5. Drive school improvement initiatives by contributing to strategic planning, implementation, and review within the scope of established regulations, procedures, and systems.
6. Lead high-level planning, programming, and management initiatives with accountability for campus performance, outcomes, and culture.
7. Liaise with state regulatory bodies to ensure continuous compliance with school registration, accreditation, and audit standards.
8. Coordinate timely and accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting to meet both internal and external requirements.
9. Manage school expenditure in alignment with the approved budget, including oversight of complex projects exceeding $300,000.
10. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of relevant Indie School programs and how they apply to your specific context.
11. Deliver high-quality subject teaching in line with your employment agreement and the evolving needs of the campus.


To be successful in this role, applicants must demonstrate:


1. A strong understanding of effective teaching, learning, and classroom management practices.
2. Proven experience as an exemplary educator and instructional leader, demonstrating impact on teaching quality and student outcomes through mentoring, coaching, or leading professional practice initiatives.
3. The capacity to provide educational leadership within a school setting, fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement.
4. Well-developed leadership skills, with the ability to both lead a team and contribute positively within a collaborative team environment.
5. Sound judgment and the ability to make high-level decisions independently.
6. A proactive and strategic approach to problem-solving, ensuring that solutions are implemented effectively and lead to measurable improvements in student and school outcomes.


Additional Requirements

* Teaching qualification
* Current Australian Driver's Licence
* National Police Check, issued in the 3 months prior to commencement and annually thereafter
* Working with Children's Check
