About the Opportunity
Parkes Shire Council is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill this key role. As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless communication between management, technical staff, and operational teams.
Key responsibilities include:
* Serving as the conduit between management's strategic direction and operational teams' day-to-day activities.
* Collaborating with management to convey operational requirements and constraints.
* Overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of construction and maintenance projects.
* Coordinating and leading operational teams, contractors, and consultants to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Engaging with regulatory agencies, community groups, and external stakeholders to address concerns and build positive relationships.
Minimum Requirements
* Diploma in Project Management, Civil Construction Management, Leadership and Management or equivalent; OR significant experience in civil construction leadership roles.
* Proven experience in project management preferably in civil construction, contracts management or project management role.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities.
* Knowledge of relevant engineering principles, regulations, and industry best practice.
* Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Current and maintained NSW Drivers Licence.
* SafeWork NSW Construction Induction (White Card).
Additional Skills and Background
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
* Master's qualification in civil engineering or a related field.
* Previous experience in a civil construction management role in a Local Government context.
* Additional qualification in project management, leadership and management or related field.
* Knowledge of the role, functions, and responsibilities of Local Government.
The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.
