We're currently seeking a qualified and experienced Laser Cutter / Brake Press Operator to join our team in a permanent full-time position.
About the Role:
As a laser cutter/ brake press operator, your role will involve the setting up, operating, and maintaining of metal-cutting machines and forming equipment, including laser cutters and brake press machinery. You'll be fabricating, modifying, and finishing high-quality metal components to precise technical specifications.
Key Duties:
* Interpreting detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and job orders
* Operating CNC laser cutting machines to cut metal sheets to exact dimensions
* Operating brake press equipment to form and shape metal parts according to design
* Setting up and adjusting tools and machine controls for production runs
* Performing accurate measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments
* Checking finished parts for conformance to specifications and making necessary adjustments
* Conducting routine maintenance and ensuring machines are functioning correctly
* Cutting, grinding, shaping, and finishing metal using hand tools and power equipment
* Maintaining workplace safety and cleanliness in accordance with WHS guidelines
Skills & Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:
* At least 1 year of relevant experience as a laser cutter / press brake operator or in a closely related role
* Proven ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings
* Proficiency in operating CNC laser cutting and brake press machinery
* Competence in using precision measurement tools and ensuring tight tolerances
* Ability to set up and troubleshoot machines for different production runs
* High level of attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work
* Physical fitness to work in a hands-on workshop environment
* Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and in a team
