The Role
This hands-on Farm Maintenance role ensures the daily care and presentation of a premium 365-acre private property in the Southern Highlands. Key responsibilities include all aspects of land and infrastructure maintenance, such as fencing, mowing, tractor operation, and weed spraying in paddocks. You will also be responsible for maintaining farm vehicles and equipment, performing general repairs, and proactive handyman duties.
The position involves daily care of the property's animals, including eight pleasure horses (confidence around horses is essential, but riding is not) and assisting with the small beef cattle operation. You will also handle routine household tasks like cleaning the chookpen, maintaining birdfeeders, and lighting the homestead fireplaces and collecting wood before owner visits. The property is maintained to an exceptional, boutique level, requiring a high standard of presentation and order.
The Employer
The employer is a private family who has owned this well-established property for over 16 years. Located atop the escarpment at Mittagong, it is described as one of the most beautiful parts of Australia. The estate operates a beef cattle program and is maintained with a consistent investment in quality and infrastructure, the owners have high expectations for presentation and maintenance.
You will coordinate with existing staff, including an estate manager, housekeeper, and gardener, and liaise with the owners during their intermittent visits, ensuring the property and residence are prepared to a high standard.
