About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Associate Professor to join the Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology.
Working collaboratively, you will join a dynamic team in delivering and supporting teaching and learning in biochemistry within the Department and the broader School of Biomedical Sciences. You will also pursue research opportunities in the dynamic and highly collaborative research environment of the Bio21 Molecular Science and Biotechnology Institute where the Department is housed and contribute to interdisciplinary research within the School of Biomedical Science and Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences and wider academic community. This research will be in collaboration with The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health.
Your responsibilities will include:
4. Contributing to the delivery of educational programs in the form of lectures, tutorials, workshops and directing practical classes particularly in the area of cell signalling and G-protein coupled receptors.
5. Lead a successful independent research group that attracts extramural research funding and generates outputs that that are externally recognized for their excellence.
6. Collaborate effectively with others in complementary research programs to facilitate impactful and translational outcomes.
Who We Are Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will be a dynamic and motivated individual with experience in cell signalling and structural biology, particularly in G protein coupled receptors, significant teaching experience and experience with industry. Additionally, you should possess excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
You will also have:
7. PhD or in relevant area or equivalent professional qualification.
8. Demonstrated track record in independent and team-based research in mitochondriak disease and biology.
9. Excellent funding from national funding schemes including salary support.
10. Significant clinical linkages that allow the translation of discoveries to patient outcomes.
