About the role:
Ethical Hire is currently looking for Disability Support Workers whom have experience caring for clients with Stroke and ABI. The task is including of personal care and community access might be added in future.
Position requirements:
* Completed certificate III, IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Disability services
* Ability to be a team player
* Ability to work independently with disabled individuals to achieve social and self-care goals
* Positive attitude with nurturing and kind nature
* Excellent costumer service skills
* Demonstrative reliability, punctuality, and trustworthiness
* Demonstrate knowledge of standard food handling procedures
* Ability to work with care plans
* Ability to record and maintain accurate non-judgmental information
* NDIS Screening Check
* Updated first aid and CPR
* Current Working with Children check
* Australian Drivers Licence and use of own car
Preferred Criteria:
* Updated Asthma First Aid for Workplaces certificate
* Updated Manual Handling certificate

For the Job
* Provide participants with support with general household tasks such as cooking and serving meals, cleaning premises, laundry and ironing, etc.
* Assist participants with personal care including personal activities, showering, dressing, feeding, and getting ready for educational and recreational activities.
* Help participants develop daily living and life skills to become as independent as possible
* Provide participants with community access and social and recreational support including social, civic, and innovative community participation
* Provide companionship and support to participants during daily activities
* Provide therapeutic support by implementing plan/program including behaviour observation and support by understanding participant triggers and actions as required
* Report all incidents concerning aggressive behaviour, sexual behaviour, or verbal behaviour of concern of participants immediately as required
* Assist participants with travel/transport to group and centre based activities
* Assist participants with administrating their medication if required
* Encourage participant in building their self-image and confidence
* Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives
* Actively contribute to the business in a positive manner
* All other duties as directed
