Overview
Senior Terrestrial Ecologist - ( 2500023M ). The role is in Stantec's Environment team, supporting the Ecology practice across NSW with BAM accreditation and leadership responsibilities. The position can be based in any NSW office with work-from-home flexibility, and offers opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
Responsibilities
Providing advice to infrastructure and natural resource management projects for private and public sector clients.
Leading and coordinating environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, including flora, fauna, biodiversity and habitat.
Delivering environmental analysis, research and field surveys and preparing technical reports for clients.
Participating in proposal and tender production and contributing to business development efforts.
Managing project delivery across the project life cycle with accountability for time, cost and quality.
Contributing to strategic planning and implementing initiatives within the business unit.
Building and maintaining client relationships on allocated projects and pursuing new opportunities.
Promoting a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and mentoring junior team members.
Assisting the BD Leader and colleagues on opportunities and pursuits as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Ecology.
Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate Ecology experience, ideally in a consulting, construction, or regulatory environment.
Biodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation (or working towards).
Demonstrated identification skills in NSW flora, fauna and ecological communities.
Knowledge of NSW/ACT standards and relevant legislation.
Driver's license essential; 4WD experience preferable.
Excellent interpersonal skills for client liaison and mentoring juniors.
Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and promote collaboration.
Strong commercial acumen to financially manage projects and pursue new business opportunities.
Physical Requirements
Position includes office and field work; applicant must be physically able to work in the field and remote areas for extended periods.
