Head Chef – Up to $135K+S, Northern Tasmania

Seeking a Head Chef passionate about produce to lead a seasonal kitchen showcasing Tasmanian ingredients, local growers and thoughtful food.

Overview

The new restaurant in Northern Tasmania will be lunch-focused, with the main dining experience running across four lunch services each week. The kitchen will be day-time oriented, with occasional evening service during warmer months. The role is to lead a modern Australian kitchen with a strong regional voice, focusing on ingredient-led cooking and seasonal menus that evolve with the region.

The Restaurant

The space is designed to sit comfortably within its surroundings—relaxed, considered and connected to the landscape. Lunch-focused with a main four-day lunch service each week and a casual offering for guests throughout the week. The rhythm of the kitchen centers on daytime service, with potential for occasional evenings in warmer months.

The Food

Food is modern Australian with a strong regional voice. Ingredient-led cooking with seasonal menus that evolve with the region. Dishes show restraint and clarity, with recognizable and respectfully used produce. The Head Chef will shape how the menus come to life, strengthen supplier relationships, and bring energy and creativity into the kitchen while telling the story of Tasmanian produce.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is purpose-built and fully equipped, with flexibility for the Head Chef to introduce needed tools. The team is tight-knit and collaborative, enabling the Head Chef to lead closely with the food. The culture values high standards and a positive work environment.

You'll be involved in

* Developing seasonal menus and the overall food direction
* Setting up the kitchen and selecting equipment where needed
* Building and mentoring a small team
* Forming relationships with local farmers, growers and producers
* Creating the identity of the kitchen

Salary & Support

* Up to $135K+S
* Relocation support available
* Temporary accommodation during transition
