Obstetrics & Gynaecology Registrar Opportunity


This exceptional opportunity has arisen to join a highly proficient department as an Obstetrics & Gynaecology Registrar. The role serves as a Medical Practitioner in the primary referral hospital for the region, providing high-acuity case encounters and a diverse range of clinical experiences.


The maternity unit is the hub for birthing and inpatient maternity care, with extended antenatal and postnatal services to the region. With approximately 1000 births annually, the unit boasts a skilled team of midwives. High-risk births are supported by collaboration with other hospitals in Tasmania, backed by local endocrinology and diabetic teams. Additionally, the unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8-bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.


This role appeals to seasoned medical professionals who thrive on challenges, viewing them as avenues for growth, and are deeply committed to enhancing healthcare within modern health systems. Ideal candidates will play a pivotal role in advancing healthcare at both patient and system levels.


This position is suitable for applicants who have been assessed by RANZCOG and deemed partially or substantially comparable (requiring top-up training/peer review).

About the Facility


This 300-bed Tertiary Teaching Facility, renowned for its acute care capabilities, caters to over 24,000 inpatients and more than 225,000 outpatients each year. The bustling Emergency Department, equipped with 43 treatment beds, accommodates an annual influx of over 45,000 patients and maintains an admission rate of 35%. This accredited hospital maintains a close-knit partnership with the University of Tasmania through its clinical school.


Eligibility


* General, Provisional, or limited registration with AHPRA
* IMGs that have completed at least the AMC MCQ (part 1) or completed both AMC 1 & 2 (clinical exam)
* IMGs eligible via the Competent Authority Pathway (training in the UK, USA, NZ, Canada, or Ireland)
* IMGs assessed by RANZCOG College as partially or substantially comparable (doctors currently interviewing with RANZCOG may express their interest)
* Non-CA country: Have 7+ years of international experience working as an O&G Registrar
