Senior Human Resources Manager (Luxury Retail) Sydney
We are representing one of the most admired luxury houses globally, a brand that embodies artistry, heritage, and timeless innovation. With an international presence spanning every major fashion and lifestyle capital, this house continues to define modern luxury while remaining true to its roots.
The Sydney office plays a pivotal role in the brand’s operations across Australia, and we are seeking an accomplished Senior HR Manager to take ownership of the people function. This is not a transactional HR role; it is a rare chance to create impact at the intersection of global luxury standards and local market expertise.
The Role
As the Senior HR Manager, you will lead the HR agenda for Australia, bringing strategy and structure to a fast-moving, highly dynamic luxury business. Your role will span far beyond policy and process; you will be entrusted with shaping the employee journey from end to end, ensuring every touchpoint reflects the refinement, precision, and excellence for which this brand is known worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Culture & Engagement – Elevate and nurture a culture that mirrors the values of the brand: creativity, precision, excellence, and innovation. Act as a true cultural ambassador, ensuring the employee experience is as aspirational as the client experience.
- Talent Acquisition – Lead recruitment for both corporate and retail functions, including Marketing, PR, e-Commerce, Store Management, Sales, and Client Experience. Identify, attract, and secure exceptional talent who not only meet the technical requirements of their roles but also align with the house’s DNA.
- Leadership & Business Partnership – Act as a trusted advisor to the Country Manager and senior stakeholders, ensuring people strategies directly support business objectives. Balance commercial awareness with a people-first mindset.
- Policy, Compliance & Governance – Maintain excellence in HR practices through rigorous compliance with Australian employment law while embedding the brand’s global policies into local operations. Ensure HR remains agile and responsive to change.
- Employee Development – Create pathways for growth, supporting leaders and employees with training, coaching, and leadership development programs. Build retention strategies that ensure the brand retains its most talented people.
- Reward & Recognition – Oversee payroll, perks, and performance programs, ensuring competitive offerings while reflecting the prestige of the brand.
- Employee Lifecycle – Manage onboarding and offboarding with the utmost professionalism and detail, ensuring that the journey of every employee from first impression to final day reflects the standards of the house.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 8 years’ HR experience, with significant exposure to luxury fashion, fine jewellery, watches, or premium lifestyle brands.
- Deep knowledge of Australian labour law and workplace culture, with strong Sydney market experience.
- A proven ability to recruit and retain top-tier talent, particularly within client-facing and leadership roles.
- A blend of strategic vision and operational precision, with the agility to switch seamlessly between long-term planning and hands-on delivery.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, advise, and partner at the senior leadership level while also engaging employees at every level of the business.
- A detail-oriented mindset, combined with the ability to juggle priorities in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Above all, a genuine passion for the world of luxury and an ability to translate brand prestige into employee experience.
