The Senior Director Major Programs will support the branch activities and the Executive Branch Manager (EBM) for planning, implementing various government programs, projects and business-as-usual activities. The position plays a key role in the coordination of various stakeholders, driving positive outcomes for both government and the community. The position requires a person with a strong track record of coordinating with various stakeholders and driving positive outcomes for government and community. Under the broad direction of the Executive branch Manager, Major Programs, the Senior Director Major Programs will be responsible for:
* Leading a diverse range of work across Major Programs branch.
* Working with key stakeholders to ensure the work delivered through the Major Programs Branch meets the needs of end users and in accordance with established timeframes.
* Setting clear expectations for team members including defining what they should do and the timing of such activities.
* Build effective relationships and partnerships with other directorates within government where required, to ensure outcomes are delivered.
* Managing risks and troubleshooting issues.
* Working closely with resources from across government to coordinate activities.
* Advising and supporting team members by providing guidance on issues, key success factors and lessons learned.
* Support the EBM to drive the objectives of Major Programs, including culture, behaviour, risk management, safety and other KPIs.
* Contribute to the development of certain communications strategies and messaging.
* Provide leadership from a broader ACTPS ‘whole-of-government’ perspective.
* Operate with sensitivity and compliance to the Territory’s principles and ethical standards, with special regard to probity, transparency and honesty.
* Adhere to and promote an awareness of the principles of the Respect Equity and Diversity (RED) Framework, Work Health and Safety, the ACT Public Service Values and Signature Behaviours and workforce diversity to maintain a safe, healthy and fair workplace environment.
* Undertaking other duties appropriate to this level of classification that contribute to the Directorate.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
* The position requires an ACT Government Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD) issued Personal Vetting Program certificate. This will form part of the pre-employment process prior to commencement.
* This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
* This position does not require a Working with Vulnerable People Check.
