The SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria's transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria's renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.
Your role
As the Education Officer at SEC's Morwell hub, you will be part of a team that will also play a key public-facing role by helping visitors understand Victoria's energy transition, answering their questions, and connecting them with relevant SEC services and information.
Reporting to the Student Engagement Lead, you will lead engaging classroom sessions using pre-prepared materials to school children of various ages to inspire students about the renewable energy transition and careers in renewable energy. You will also support with general duties such as preparation of educational materials, administration and coordination of school bookings.
This role is a part-time, 2 days a week position, and will be based in Morwell .
What you will do:
* Deliver and manage engaging classroom activities at the hub, external sites, as well as coordinating excursions or via school incursions/excursions, including the delivery of exciting sessions to teachers and school students at both primary and secondary school levels
* Convey complex information effectively to inspire and educate teachers and students on the renewable energy transition and associated career opportunities
* Effectively manage school bookings and enquiries, and/or ensure that sessions are appropriately scheduled and delivered
* Support relationship management with local educational institutions through regular contact and by planning and delivering engagement events with key stakeholders from these institutions
* Work with the Student Engagement Lead on projects as required, as well as supporting with community engagement, attending community events and public-facing duties to support other employees of the hub.
Who you are:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and equivalent experience in a similar role, partnered with a keen interest in renewable energy
* Experience planning, coordinating and delivering educational sessions to school aged students.
* Presentation skills to deliver content in an engaging and stimulating manner suitable for a school age audience.
* An ability to generate and manage discussion and Q&A from a group of young people.
* The ability to manage the attention and behaviour of groups of students.
* Confidence to work autonomously and unsupervised in a responsible role representing the SEC to school students and educational institutions.
Highly Desirable:
* Interested in the renewable energy transition and the promotion of wider awareness of careers in renewable energy.
* Graduate or bachelor's degree in teaching or education and Registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT), or
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) or qualifications that meet the Standards for RTOs 2015
* Victorian Police Records Check
* Working with Children Check
* Current driver's licence - Daytime travel will be required
