About the role This role will require you to: * utilise their high-level event management expertise to lead the development and implementation of a strategic annual event program which aligns with organisational priorities and stakeholder engagement objectives * ensure all events support strategic goals, and reinforce key organisational messages· lead the coordination and delivery of events, including concept development, venue selection, logistics, and on-site management * oversee event budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery and compliance with financial and procurement policies * identify and respond to new and emerging strategic issues as they arise in the context of event management· work in partnership across VIT, and with external partners to ensure events meet stakeholder needs and expectations * work collaboratively with the Senior Executive Officer to ensure alignment of event strategies with broader organizational priorities * be accountable for the development and ongoing maintenance of a VIT event management operational policy framework * brief, advise and problem solve for members of the Executive Leadership Team on highly complex issues within event management as they arise * build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, venues and service providers to ensure high-quality outcomes * partner with external providers, including ongoing development and management of the Blackthorn events management platform, to optimize event delivery and stakeholder experience * identify and manage risks associated with events, including safety, reputational and operational risks * ensure all events comply with relevant legislation, organisational policies, and accessibility standards * collaborate with VITs strategic communications officers to align event messaging with broader engagement strategies * support VIT's reform initiatives by working across branches to facilitate consultation and engagement with key stakeholders * ensure events are leveraged as platforms for promoting organisational priorities, align with transformation objectives and enhance VIT's reputation * establish and maintain evaluation frameworks to measure event success and stakeholder satisfaction * provide regular reporting on event outcomes, insights, and recommendations for continuous improvement. About you As an experienced Events Manager you will have sound and practical expertise in planning, coordinating, and delivering high-impact events that align with organisation objectives. You have sound knowledge of current best practices in event management, stakeholder engagement, and risk mitigation. Your background includes managing complex logistics, budgets, and vendor relationships to ensure seamless execution. Ideally, you also have a passion for child safety and experience working within the education sector, enabling you to deliver events that reflect VIT's values and strategic priorities. In addition to this, as the successful candidate, you will have: * Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic event frameworks that align with organisational objectives. * Highly developed stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels. * Advanced project management expertise, including risk management and contingency planning. * Demonstrated ability to introduce innovative approaches to event design and delivery – including the evaluation of event outcomes. * Ability to foster a collaborative, high performance culture and demonstrated capacity to resolve complex operational challenges through authoritative advice to senior management. * Experience in interpreting and applying organisational policies and strategic plans to event delivery. * High level of initiative and adaptability, with a proven capacity to respond effectively to changing priorities and emerging challenges. * Extensive experience in leading the design and delivery of large-scale, high-profile events; including strategic planning, logistics, and evaluation. * Proven ability to develop and manage project budgets, negotiate contracts and manage vendors, ensuring cost-effective outcomes and financial accountability.
