The position
You'll join a cross‐functional engineering team focused on building tools, APIs, and integrations for one of our products. You may work on backend services written in Elixir/Phoenix with a Postgres database, or on frontend features written in React/Next.js. GitLab is our version control, issue tracker, and CI/CD system, and all deployments run on AWS.

What you bring
Must have
* Strong engineering fundamentals and a track record of shipping secure, reliable, scalable production systems.
* Practical experience designing or adopting agentic/automation workflows and iterating on them.
* Systems thinking: the ability to define specs, break down plans, instrument verification, and close the loop on quality.
* Hands‐on experience with Postgres (or a similar database).
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar).

Key responsibilities
* Lead development of major team‐scoped projects and participate in cross‐team initiatives for our HR and payroll products.
* Provide technical expertise to suggest product improvements and drive iterative development.
* Maintain a deep understanding of the product domain from both product and engineering perspectives.
* Give constructive feedback during code reviews and contribute to the shared codebase.
* Debug and solve technical and business issues.
* Participate in non‐team activities such as support rotations, hiring, RFC discussions, and other collaborative initiatives.
* Mentor and guide other engineers.
* Investigate, propose, and implement platform improvements.
* Design interfaces with performance, accessibility, and API design in mind.
* Redesign engineering workflows to ship with autonomous agents as the default execution layer.
* Operationalize end‐to‐end agentic workflows (spec → plan → execute → verify) to deliver outcomes faster.
* Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives for repeated use across domains.
* Employ verification loops (tests, checks, evals, guardrails) to ensure results are correct, secure, reliable, and scalable.
