Chef (Full-Time Position) BKJM Pty Ltd T/A Refuge & Co. Coffee Shop
Refuge & Co. Coffee Shop is seeking a qualified and experienced Chef to join our busy, fast-paced venue. Refuge & Co. is a 70-seat venue offering a fresh, seasonal menu with a focus on quality ingredients, consistency, and innovation using local produce.
Position Details Employment Type: Full-time Salary: $73,000 – $76,000 per annum + superannuation
Hours: Minimum 38 hours per week Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and cook menu items to a consistently high standard
Contribute to menu design, seasonal updates, and daily specials Ensure quality control across all stages of food preparation and presentation Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and WHS regulations
Manage stock control, ordering, and minimise food wastage Supervise and support kitchen staff, ensuring efficient service during peak periods Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen environment
Minimum Requirements Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience within the last 5 years immediately prior to application Qualifications (Trade Requirement)
Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification)OR A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in lieu of formal qualifications Skills & Attributes
Strong knowledge of contemporary style cuisine Ability to perform under pressure in a high-volume environment High level of organisation, efficiency, and attention to detail

Coffee Shop, created to support the ongoing operational demands of a high-volume hospitality venue. Due to continued business growth, regular menu changes, and the need to maintain consistent food quality and service standards, a skilled and qualified Chef is required on a full-time basis. The duties of this role align with the ANZSCO occupation: Chef (351311) and are essential to the daily operation of the business.
The position is rather to address a legitimate skills need within the business where suitably qualified and experienced candidates are required. The remuneration offered for this position is consistent with market salary rates and complies with Australian workplace requirements.
