Opportunity Snapshot:
The role’s primary focus will be responsible to lead mobile application design and development activities across Bupa’s digital products, whilst also ensuring development teams adhere to best practices to deliver high quality applications built using native Swift and Kotlin tech stacks that meet or exceed the business and customer expectations.
* Lead the development and execution of technical projects from inception through to its final production and deployment
* Lead/Deliver application solution design for new ideas/initiatives coming into Digital. This includes working with architecture team, digital portfolio and wider business
* Work with the Application Architects to plan the long-term strategic architecture for Bupa’s mobile applications
* The job’s primary focus will be across coding, and supporting the existing mobile apps, associated services & environments.
* This role is primarily focused on mobile app development, supporting, and working with environment teams to work on new and existing features.
* The person should be capable to design end to end solutions and provide feedback on others solution design(s) to ensure they meet operation needs.
* The person should be capable to lead and direct technical initiatives.
Your Contribution:
* Work collaboratively with the other IT functions in responding to Business unit requirements that underpin the day-to-day activities of existing mobile applications and associated systems.
* Participate in identifying process and system improvements for the mobile team and in the API domain.
* Actively collaborate with and assist other members of the mobile team in successfully completing their activities including some level of mentoring and training and at times leading development activities.
* Undertake feasibility studies of changes to mobile applications for proposed business projects/enhancements to provide high-level sizing.
* Undertake system analysis, solution and technical design activities with high-quality documentation and realistic work estimates as the end-deliverables.
* Ensure that proposed technical design complies with the application architectural principles.
* Undertake coding activities that comply with the intention of the technical specification, using judgement and communication skills to alter where appropriate.
* Manage the performance of team members and conduct employee reviews.
* Undertake manual and automated test activities as per agreed unit test coverage and ensure that artefacts are available to satisfy any audit compliance.
* Ensure that application deliverables comply with the quality requirements defined by the Quality Assurance area.
Qualifications and training
* Typically require a tertiary qualification in an IT discipline
* Relevant tertiary qualification at degree level
* Minimum experience in similar role.
* At least 2 years of experience managing a team of direct reports
* At least 4 years of experience in .NET Technologies
* Experience with mobile development using languages such as Objective C, Kotlin or Swift highly regarded
* REST Services and Azure knowledge and experience of at least 1 year
