The Role
The Nuclear Safety Officer supports the Regulations and Licencing Branch of the Australian Nuclear Powered Submarine Safety Regulator (ANNPSR) in executing its regulatory and associated compliance functions:
* Conduct regulatory compliance activities including submarine related inspections and audits within ANNPSR's jurisdiction.
* Support the development of documentation for licence assessments, compliance monitoring and enforcement activities.
* Assist with licence application assessments, including providing technical evaluations on application artefacts.
* Undertake education and engagement activities with the regulated community, including prospective ANNPSR licence holders.
Subject to suitability and completion of the Inspector certification pathway, successful candidates will be designated as an Inspector under the ANNPS Act 2024.
NOTE:
Due to the training and development requirements for this role, international travel will likely be required, with some roles requiring individuals to live and work abroad in either the United Kingdom (UK) or the United Stated of America (USA) for up to 3 years. ANNPSR may require employees to undergo additional assessments to ensure suitability for overseas placements.
Some of these roles may be eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR) as a Building Capability Payment (BCP) or Individual Flexibility Arrangement (IFA). This enables ANNPSR to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulatory Determination 2025 (Terms and Conditions of Employment), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to ANNPSR capability.
