The Hospitality and Racing division within the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport (DCITHS), which includes Liquor & Gaming NSW and the Office of Responsible Gambling, plays a critical role in fostering a safe, responsible, and thriving environment for liquor and gaming venues, racing and wagering industries, and safer gambling initiatives across NSW. Our work goes beyond regulation; it's about fostering sustainable growth, community safety, and ensuring that NSW remains a premier destination for world-class hospitality and entertainment.

We are seeking a strategic, delivery‐focused executive to join our team as Director, Data Strategy and Projects. This role is ideal for a senior leader who can uplift organisational data maturity, embed strong governance and analytics capabilities, and drive the successful delivery of complex, high‐impact projects through oversight of an enterprise program management function.

About the role

As Director, Data Strategy and Projects, you will provide strategic leadership to uplift data, analytics, research and project management capability and delivery across the Hospitality and Racing division and its related agencies.

You will lead the implementation of the Hospitality and Racing Data Strategy, establishing robust data governance, artificial intelligence and analytics functions that enable evidence‐based decision making and proactive identification of emerging risks, opportunities and reform priorities. You will also oversee the establishment and progress of the division's Strategic Projects Office, an enterprise project management function.

About you

You are an accomplished senior executive with extensive experience leading data strategy, analytics, research and major enterprise project delivery functions in a complex organisation, ideally within a regulatory or public sector environment.

You bring strong expertise in data analysis, governance, strategic planning and transformation, with the ability to turn complex, technical information into compelling insights that inform executive decision‐making and public value outcomes.

You are a trusted advisor who can influence at the most senior levels, build strong cross‐government relationships and lead teams through change with integrity, clarity and purpose.
