Job Description
This role offers an exciting opportunity to work in the operational forecasting team, supporting the development and implementation of advanced forecast models for electricity demand and renewable energy generation. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and security of Australia's power system.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing operational forecasting models, collaborating with weather providers and control rooms to translate weather risks into system impacts, and coordinating across teams and markets to align tools, data and forecasting processes.
* Develop and maintain complex forecasting models using statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements.
* Analyze large datasets to identify trends and patterns that inform forecasting decisions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will require:
* Tertiary qualifications in science, engineering, mathematics, meteorology or a related statistical discipline.
* Experience in the energy sector or similar industry, preferably in an operations, forecasting or analytical role.
* Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal, including experience preparing high-quality reports and presentations.
* Working knowledge of data analysis and statistical modelling techniques, including PowerBI, Databricks, SQL and Excel.

About the Role
