About Us

Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the `Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on each jurisdiction's own strategic priorities while also pursuing strategic opportunities that are interconnected and deliver benefits more broadly.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is the first level of the Victorian court system and is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria. It has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state. The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 locations, equating to approximately 90 percent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible, and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.

The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is expanding the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) to all headquarter courts, including Geelong Magistrates' Court from August 2026. ARC, together with the Court Integrated Services Program (CISP), forms part of MCV's suite of therapeutic court innovations.

ARC is a solution-focused court underpinned by therapeutic jurisprudence and recovery-oriented mental health practice. It supports people facing criminal matters who have a mental illness and/or cognitive impairment.

ARC hearings are:

* Less formal and non-adversarial
* Collaborative and participant-focused
* Designed to address both wellbeing and the underlying causes of offending behaviour

About the Role

Make a meaningful impact as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team working alongside a Magistrate, legal practitioners, police and specialist support services. The Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) operates through non-adversarial, less formal hearings, creating a supportive environment focused on recovery, accountability and long-term wellbeing.

In this role, you will deliver specialist, complex case management, taking a holistic and collaborative approach to support participants facing significant and intersecting challenges. Participants may experience mental illness and/or cognitive impairment, alcohol and other substance use issues, homelessness, family violence, and limited social supports.

You will play a key role in helping participants stabilise, engage with services and make positive change, providing intensive, longer-term case management support for up to 12 months. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a therapeutic court setting and support individuals with complex needs to achieve meaningful outcomes.

About You

This role demands extensive case management expertise to provide client-centred, strengths based and solution-focused support. You will also need to demonstrate:

* Tertiary qualifications (Diploma level highly desirable) and/or relevant case management experience (such as forensic, family violence, AOD, homelessness and/or mental health)
* Experience communicating hope and optimism for change and applying a person-centred and evidence-based approach to enhance the client's motivation
* Experience in or demonstrated capacity to provide coaching and mentoring to case managers, particularly with an area of advanced knowledge and experience
* Capacity to establish effective working relationships with the judiciary, legal professionals and service/court staff
* Ability to write formal reports and case notes and speak to your work in a court setting
