Position Overview

This is a permanent full‐time position commencing Term 3, 2026.

Alkimos College is seeking a dedicated, highly competent, and enthusiastic Home Economics Teacher, with excellent interpersonal skills. The successful applicant will be committed to promoting and fostering student engagement and academic achievement in a supportive environment where success is celebrated.

Located in the northern suburb of Alkimos with sweeping ocean views, Alkimos College opened in 2020 with our foundation Year 7 cohort, providing local intake area students with access to an exceptional secondary education in world‐class learning facilities. Stage 1 buildings include administration, lower school student services, library, gymnasium, fitness centre, food studios, cafeteria, IT labs, technologies workshops, general classrooms, science laboratories, and nature play area. Shared oval and community facilities with the City of Wanneroo are available via the adjacent Halesworth Park precinct. Stage 2 (rolled out in 2024) included a performing arts centre, lecture theatre, senior school student services centre, general classrooms including Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) classrooms, and a Hospitality Centre.

Role

The successful applicant will ideally be a positive and passionate teacher of Home Economics, with a commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. They will use their professional knowledge, understanding and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant Home Economics curriculum, from the early and middle adolescent phases through to senior secondary courses.

You will adopt a college‐wide instructional framework based on explicit teaching skills, strategies and tactics, and be committed to personal and professional growth and collaboration.

Experience and/or desire to teach across a range of Year 7‐10 courses, such as Home Economics, textiles, childcare, teenage living as well as senior school General Food Science and Technology, Caring for Children and Certificate II Hospitality, are highly desirable. Graduates are welcome to apply.

The successful applicant will display the ability to develop innovative classroom practices and utilise ICT to provide integrated, personalised, and authentic learning experiences for students. They will create environments conducive to learning and offer educational opportunities that are fun, purposeful, relevant and cater for differing student learning needs.

Commitment to the college's extra‐curricular activities (after‐school Academies) and active promotion of the college motto, values and vision within the college and wider community is highly desirable.

Eligibility

* Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
