Offer description

Superhero is a fast-growing Australian retail investment platform built for the self-directed investor. 450,000+ investors. $4+ billion in funds under management. Trading across ASX and US markets, plus superannuation, all in one place with more on the way.

We're on a mission to shift Australians from passive participants to active operators in their own financial future. The product is moving fast. This role is part of building the foundations that need to keep pace with it.

The role

This is a new position at Superhero and a deliberate investment in how we engage with the people who shape the rules. As we scale across markets and products, proactive, well‐organised regulatory and government engagement is no longer optional, it's central to how we grow responsibly and protect what we've built.

You will be Superhero's expert on the policy and regulatory landscape, tracking what's coming, building our positions and making sure the right people hear our point of view at the right time. You'll work directly alongside the CEO, the Head of Corporate Affairs and external legal counsel on all formal engagement. Your job is to make every interaction well‐prepared, well‐timed and part of a longer plan.

This is a role for someone who understands how government works from the inside and is ready to apply that knowledge in a fast‐moving commercial environment. Financial services experience is not a prerequisite, intellectual curiosity, strong judgement and the ability to get across complex regulatory frameworks quickly are.

What you'll do

Policy and regulatory affairs

* Monitor and interpret the Australian regulatory and legislative landscape across financial services and consumer investment products, tracking what's coming before it arrives.
* Build Superhero's strategic policy positions across key regulatory workstreams including ASIC consultations, Treasury reviews and parliamentary inquiry processes.
* Support the CEO in all regulatory engagement, coordinating submissions, consultation responses and meeting preparation so that every interaction is well‐organised, well‐timed and nothing falls through the cracks.
* Develop a proactive stakeholder engagement strategy covering regulators, government departments, industry bodies (FinTech Australia, the FSC, AFIA) and relevant parliamentary offices.
* Prepare the CEO and leadership team for external regulatory engagement with concise, opinionated briefing papers and position summaries they can act on.
* Work across legal, product and compliance to align internal positions before they reach external audiences.
* Horizon‐scan for regulatory developments that could affect product strategy or market positioning and bring those insights to the leadership table early.
* Represent Superhero in relevant industry forums and working groups where strategic presence matters.

Communications support

* Assist in developing external communications positions on regulatory and policy matters, working closely with the CEO and the incoming Head of Corporate Affairs on consistency of message.
* Support the preparation of media briefings and statements, including on policy‐related matters as required.

What we're looking for

* Background in government, public policy or regulatory affairs, with direct experience working inside a government department, ministerial office or regulatory body.
* Strong understanding of how the Australian government and regulatory process works — how policy decisions get made, how consultations run and how to engage constructively with both.
* Exceptional written communication — clear, direct and built for busy decision‐makers.
* The intellectual curiosity and work ethic to get across a new and complex regulatory environment quickly.
* Sound judgement about when to engage, what to say and when to hold back.
* Strong organisational instincts — this role has a lot of moving parts and you keep them all moving in the right direction.
* Comfortable in a fast‐moving environment where you own your output.

Bonus Points

* Existing relationships with Treasury, ASIC or relevant parliamentary offices.
* Familiarity with financial services regulation, superannuation policy or digital assets frameworks.
* Experience contributing to formal submissions or parliamentary inquiries.
* Prior in‐house experience at a regulated business or in financial services.

Why Superhero

We're building the platform serious investors have been waiting for, modern enough to feel right and substantial enough to trust with everything.

This role has real ownership and direct access to the CEO. You'll help shape how one of Australia's fastest‐growing fintechs engages with the world around it — and grow with the function as it scales.

You'll trade brokerage‐free on the platform you're helping to build, take proper parental leave when the time comes and share an office with a team that works hard, moves fast and genuinely enjoys the ride. We also have an in‐house baker, which at this point speaks for itself.
