Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest growers and packers of Carrots, Onions and Potatoes supplying Australia’s leading supermarket chains plus independents and exports.
We are currently seeking an experienced Farm Machinery Operator to join our team on a full-time permanent basis at our Robe site, located in South Australia.
Reporting to the Farm Manager, this person will operate and control agricultural and horticultural plant to clear and cultivate land, sow, spray and harvest crops efficiently.
A salary of $60,000 - $90,000 will be available, based on applicable qualifications and experience.
Duties include:
* Fasten and attach/detach implements to undertake necessary work.
* Operate and control tractor-drawn and self-propelled plant to plough land and sow, fertilise, cultivate, and harvest crops, avoiding damage to crops.
* Operate and control equipment used in agricultural production, preparing, and positioning the plant for operation.
* Manage calibration of equipment and effectively adjust the speed, height, and depth of implements to maintain accuracy and effectiveness.
* Maintain, service and complete minor maintenance on farm machinery and notify line manager when machinery malfunctions occur.
* Actively participate in operational planning with the Agricultural Technician, harvest team and Packing Production Manager to maximise packing.
* Inspection of crops to determine yield and suitability for harvest.
* Direct and monitor the activities of bin chaser drivers, truck drivers and harvest crew.
* Document work completed.
* Maintain logs and records as per company procedures.
* All other requirements as directed to achieve business objectives.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience, experience operating large machinery highly desirable.
* Experience in machinery maintenance and / or mechanical maintenance.
* Experience in horticultural operations / farm management.
* Basic mechanical knowledge and experience working with large scale agricultural machinery.
* Unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence (essential).
* High Risk Forklift Licence (essential).
* Cultural adaptability and a willingness to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Ability and willingness to undertake manual, and sometimes physical work.
* Ability and willingness to work outdoors, in all kinds of weather conditions.
* A willingness to be hands on and participate in a broad range of duties, a strong work ethic is essential.
