About the team –

The Transition Services Team provides a central point of coordination, control and governance for all ICT transition activities across an ITSM model and framework that supports ASC end users and Technology Group to collaborate closely across all Service Towers.

They provide effective governance, control and management of change, release and deployment, knowledge and configurations/CMDB that are essential for a well-functioning IT ecosystem that enables effective use, sustainability, and scalability across the organisation.

About the role –

The Configuration Manager ASC5 (APS6 equivalent) is responsible, under broad direction, for managing configuration information systems or repositories within the configuration management database (CMDB) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and stability of Technology Group's owned, managed and supported Product and Platform configurations and configuration items.

The role will manage the configuration management lifecycle, including

- Planning
- Identification
- Control
- Status Accounting
- Reporting
- Verification and audit

This involves documenting, tracking, and controlling configurations (and configuration items) to maintain reliability and to prevent issues caused by undocumented changes through the transition of new technology projects and/or enhancements and/or fixes of existing services or service elements into service operation.

You will be responsible for overseeing and managing both project and operational related configuration management updates/changes that have the potential to impact or affect services or service offerings.

You will assist the Change Manager to ensure effective governance, control, assessment and mitigation of risk to the security, availability, performance and impact on the business, related to impacted configuration items to maintain the services Technology Group provide to internal and external stakeholders.

About you –

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced and motivated individual with excellent attention to detail and a passion and experience in developing and implementing technology processes and procedures within a government context.

The following skills are essential for the successful candidate:

- Demonstrated experience (2-3 years) in coordination and facilitation of Configuration Management policies, processes and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing a new CMDB, including the ability to identify, define and document Configuration Items (CIs), their attributes and their relationship to other items within a CMDB.
- Experience in creating reports and dashboards providing insights into configuration data and compliance metrics
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information to understanding of a layperson

The following skills are desirable for the successful candidate:

- Ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and an ability to influence and persuade others to work toward a common vision or goal.
- Understanding the ITSM or ITIL Service Lifecycles and their relationships to Configuration, IT Asset, Change and Release & Deployment Management.

Eligibility

- To be eligible for this position applicants are required to be Australian citizens only and must be able to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance.
