Senior Trade Overseer - Facilities Maintenance Electrical Broken Hill
Location: Broken Hill Correctional Centre
Employment type: Full-time Ongoing
Salary: $105,040 pa + Incidental Allowance + Leave Loading + Superannuation
Your role:
As a Senior Trader Overseer, you will provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to Trade Overseers, while supervising and coaching inmates in electrical maintenance activities.
What you’ll do:
In this role, you’ll use your trade skills to supervise inmates and staff in completing programmed and reactive maintenance tasks essential to keeping the correctional centre operational. By creating a safe and productive environment, you will help develop inmates’ trade skills, boost their post-release employment prospects, and support Business Unit objectives.
As a Senior Trade Overseer – Facilities Maintenance (Electrical), you’ll lead and mentor Trade Overseers, drive team performance, and plan and oversee maintenance activities to meet productivity, efficiency, and quality targets. You’ll coach and instruct inmates in electrical trade skills, fostering real-world workplace standards and positive work habits, while contributing to the Work Readiness Program to support rehabilitation outcomes. You’ll also ensure compliance with Work Health & Safety legislation and organisational policies and manage budgets and resources to deliver results effectively.

Qualifications Required:
- Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes
- Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role.
- Relevant trade qualifications: Minimum Cert III in Electro Technology, Electrician or similar related trades and hold a current Electrical Supervisors certificate.
Essential Requirements:
- Hands-on post-trade experience in electrical maintenance, installations, fault-finding, and repairs across commercial or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully performing duties aligned with the key responsibilities and core capabilities outlined in the role description.
- Proven ability to supervise and work across multiple trade areas
- Participation in a rotating on-call roster is a requirement of this role.
