Take a leadership role in a dynamic and expanding Property & Commercial Group
About The Role
We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Property & Commercial team and play a key role in the continued growth and advancement of our practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to lead complex matters, manage client relationships, supervise junior solicitors, and work closely with the Property Partner on high-value transactions and strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in commercial leasing and property transactions, with experience in lending, business sales, and contract negotiation.
This role offers genuine leadership potential and a clear path to seniority, including Special Counsel or Partnership, for the right candidate.
What You Will Be Doing
* Lead and manage complex property matters, including commercial, retail, and industrial leasing (for landlords and tenants), and sale and purchase of commercial, industrial, and strata properties.
* Conduct due diligence investigations and risk assessments.
* Advise on development structuring, titling, and major transactions.
* Draft, review, and negotiate leases, licences, sale contracts, options, easements, loans, and mortgage documents.
* Oversee conveyancing files and supervise junior lawyers and conveyancers.
* Support clients on broader commercial matters such as business and asset sales, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, and commercial contracts.
* Manage and grow client relationships through high level service and commercial insight.
* Provide strategic input into process improvement, team advancement, and business development.
* Assist on property-related disputes when required (e.g., lease breaches, contractual enforcement).
What We Are Looking For
* At least 5 years post-admission experience, ideally with commercial leasing focus.
* Proven ability to manage complex matters independently and supervise junior team members.
* Strong drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
* Experience advising commercial landlords highly regarded.
* Client-focused with excellent communication skills.
* Commercially minded and interest in developing client relationships.Familiarity with PEXA, electronic settlements, and legal practice software.
