The Team & Role

The Keeping Families Safe Practitioner provides specialist Adolescent Family Violence in the Home (AVITH) interventions for young people and their families using a family system, trauma informed and youth development approach. This important role provides flexibility for you to use your skills and experience to engage young people and their families to establish safety and reduce the harm associated with trauma and violence.

Skills and Experience Required
* Tertiary qualification in Social Work (Qualifications must align with the Mandatory Minimum Qualification Requirements for Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Recommendation 209).
* Demonstrated skills and experience in case management with adolescents and adults, individual and/or family work, care team participation and inter-agency collaboration.
* Demonstrated ability to work well with adolescents and their families in relation to elevated risk and/or harm, including the use of family violence.
* Experience in completing risk assessments and safety planning with clients using the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Frameworks and tools.
* Demonstrated experience in both outreach and office-based work with adolescents and their families to reduce risk and/or harm, using defusing, self-management and reflective practice.
* Strong understanding of current research-based knowledge of adolescent development, including emerging issues of concern for adolescents and recommended therapeutic practice approaches.
* High level verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively in all professional relationships.
* Commitment to continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
* Demonstrated flexibility and capability to work effectively in a changing environment.
* Current Victorian driver’s licence, Working with Children Check and a satisfactory police check.

Desirable:

* Demonstrated skills and experience in facilitating group work desirable
* Experience in completing risk assessments and safety planning with clients using the Adult’s Using Family Violence (AUFV) desirable
