About the role:
Focus Minerals is currently seeking a
Senior Geologist: Open Pits
to join them on an
8/6 roster
based on
Site.
Reporting to the
Superintendent: Geologist
, you will be responsible for overseeing all grade control activities and ensuring the implementation of fit for purpose workflows to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution. This pivotal role involves mentoring a team of Mine Geologists, implementing efficient mining methodologies, and delivering precise geological data to guide our mining strategies.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Ensure the quality of geological data collection for downstream resource and reconciliation functions.
* Develop, implement and maintain systems and processes to streamline workflows.
* Conduct EOM reconciliation processes.
* Contribute to the weekly, monthly and yearly scheduling and planning of mining functions.
* Conduct routine grade control estimations and updates.
* Provide support for administrative functions (accruals, costs, site entry, inventory).
* Lead a dynamic team of open pit geologists and technicians.
* Contribute to the long-term strategic objectives of the department, mine and company.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
* Tertiary qualification in Geology or equivalent.
* Strong experience as a geologist within an open pit gold mining operation.
* Ability to mentor junior mine geologists and manage a small team.
* Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and mining software such as Datamine and Leapfrog.
* Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
* Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
