This is a Permanent Part Time appointment at 48 hours per fortnight.

Peel Health Campus is a general hospital located in the City of Mandurah, 75 km south of Perth on the doorstep of the south-west, known for its stunning beaches, internationally significant wetlands, and some of Australia’s most spectacular waterways for boating, fishing and wildlife. It originally opened in 1988 as the 32-bed Mandurah District Hospital, and now operates with 206 licenced beds, bays and treatment areas.

SMHS delivers quality, safe and effective hospital and health services within a catchment area stretching more than 3300 square kilometres across the southern half of Perth.

Position Description: The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is responsible for providing a clinical consultancy service within an assigned area of specialty; developing standards of practice; implementing changes to clinical practice; educating staff and initiating research and quality improvement activities. The CNS is responsible for the provision of a consultation service within their area of expertise across hospital services and external services. The CNS works both autonomously and collaboratively within the interdisciplinary team to improve the quality of patient care and promote desired outcomes within the Palliative Care service. As a senior nurse has professional accountability to the Nurse Co-Director – Acute Care and provides mentorship and role modelling for nurses and contributes to the advancement of the profession, in keeping with the vision and values for SMHS Nursing.
