Total Indicative Remuneration Package: $214,596 - $275,163 MD02 (pro rata) | 0.7 FTE – 6 MONTH CONTRACT

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will play an instrumental role in delivering comprehensive mental health care to our elderly patients, assessing, diagnosing and developing personalised treatment plans to ensure the highest quality care.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Unit, the Consultant Psychiatrist is responsible for providing clinical services of the highest standard to Mental Health Service Division patients, both in terms of individual performance and by providing clinical leadership and contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The role includes teaching medical students and trainee medical officers, participating in clinical audit, quality improvement, safety and risk management activities, and continuous medical education.
Key responsibilities
* Provide specialist level psychiatric care and coordinate comprehensive follow-up treatment plans.
* Deliver high quality and safe patient care consistent with SALHN Integrated Governance Framework.
* Provide clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students.
* Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure integrated patient care.
* Contribute to after‐hours on‐call services according to departmental roster arrangements.
About you
We seek a Senior Medical Practitioner who has recently obtained or is close to obtaining fellowship.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent with appropriate specialist qualifications and registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry.
* RANZCP Advanced Certificate in Old Age Psychiatry (or equivalent) desirable but not essential.
* Demonstrated high standard of clinical practice in psychiatry.
* Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
* Extensive clinical experience in psychiatry.
* Experience in a broad range of medical fields relevant to the practice of emergency medicine.
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian and NewZealand College of Psychiatrists or eligibility for this in the foreseeable future as a Senior Medical Practitioner.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and immunisation compliance.
