**About the department**:
The department plays a key role in the Australian Government's agenda to create jobs and build a stronger, more resilient and competitive economy. Our work builds on Australia's existing strengths, supports businesses to grow, and drives new opportunities for long-term productivity growth and prosperity. **About the teams**:
Questacon is recruiting to fill a number of APS Level 5 roles within the National Touring Programs and Educator Programs teams. These roles are responsible for planning, developing and delivering outreach activities and are based at The Ian Potter Foundation Technology Learning Centre in Deakin, ACT.

**National Touring Programs Team**

Questacon's National Touring Programs team delivers a range of activities, both in-person and via video conference, to audiences in Canberra and throughout metropolitan, regional and remote parts of Australia.

Activities include:

- Innovation workshops - travelling in-school workshops designed to develop student inquiry and problem solving skills, communication and confidence. Designed for secondary school students
- Science Circus shows - exciting performances packed with scientific demonstrations, shows are presented for primary school audiences and are designed to highlight STEM as a part of everyday life and break stereotypes about who students perceive as scientists
- Pop-up science centres - community events that bring a range of interactive exhibits and blockbuster science shows for the whole family to enjoy
- Skill development workshops for educators - in-person and video conference workshops supporting the development of inquiry based learning techniques
- Virtual Excursion workshops - interactive STEM workshops delivered via video conference

**Educator Programs Team**

Questacon's Educator Programs is a team with extensive experience in STEM education. The team develops and delivers innovative professional learning programs for teachers and other educational stakeholders across Australia. The team is responsible for two key programs:

- Engineering is Elementary provides professional development workshops for educators to empower them to teach engineering concepts in their own classrooms. The program is delivered to primary school educators and school leadership (K-6) and provides them with training and resources to directly implement cross-curricular units of work in their classrooms with an engineering focus.
- Questacon STEM Futures is a collaborative professional development program for primary educators, secondary educators and school leadership that enhances their skills and capacity to design and implement their own STEM programs and supports school leaders to plan and embed a STEM culture in their schools.
- qualifications or relevant experience in science communication, education and/or a STEM field
- demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of STEM programs and resources for a range of audiences
- strong organisational and time management skills, with an ability to manage projects, use initiative and identify and mitigate risks

- demonstrated ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities and work effectively under pressure

**What you will do**:
Project Coordinators will be involved in the development and delivery of outreach programs (both touring and virtual). The roles may require up to 10 weeks travel per year and as such, are suited to 'go getters' who are willing to get stuck in and do what's needed for the project and the team.

Working consistently with the expectations for an APS Level 5 in the APS Work Level Standards, Project Coordinators will:

- contribute to the development and evaluation of new activities and resources and the ongoing quality assurance, risk management and improvement of programs
- coordinate and plan projects, oversee travel arrangements and other logistics and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure programs are delivered successfully
- deliver high quality programs for a range of audiences using a variety of formats which may include:

- activity-based workshops
- science demonstrations and performances
- educational resources
- live video conference presentations or workshops
- provide project-based mentoring, coaching and training to team members
- provide support and regular communications to tea
