Southern Basketball Association (SBA) invites expressions of interest (EOI) from qualified accountants to join the SBA Board as Treasurer.
Overview
The Treasurer ensures the Board effectively manages SBA’s financial affairs, protects assets, oversees revenue collection and payments, and delivers accurate financial reports for Board review, AGMs, and regulatory compliance. As the custodian of SBA’s financial integrity, the Treasurer works closely with the Board, CEO, auditors, and SBA staff to provide transparent, accurate, and timely financial oversight.
Responsibilities
* Lead development of the annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and Board
* Provide financial guidance to support strategic and operational decision‑making
* Monitor performance against budget and highlight key trends, risks, or variances to the Board
* Prepare and present accurate, timely financial reports for monthly Board meetings, AGMs, and stakeholders
* Liaise with SBA’s appointed auditors and coordinate audit activities
* Translate financial information into clear, accessible insights for non‑financial Board members
Requirements
* Mandatory: Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) with strong financial management, analysis, and communication skills
* Requires a current Working with Children Check and satisfactory Victoria Police Check; honorary role with ~4 hours/month commitment for meetings and support
