Lead Engineer - Developer Experience - Go, Java, Python, AI/LLM circa $200-220k + super + bonus - Sydney
This is a hands‐on, high‐impact role with serious scope. You'll work horizontally across a Developer Experience platform alongside the Principal Engineer and one other Lead, influencing architecture and technical direction across multiple squads without direct reports. Think low‐level designs, coding the hard problems first, obsessive code review, mentoring squads, and solving complex cross‐cutting problems like API lifecycle management and developer tooling across the full SDLC. You'll join incidents, push back when needed, and operate with real developer evangelist energy.
The AI piece is what makes this genuinely interesting - you'll have real influence over the AI strategic roadmap for developers. Agentic coding, context delivery for AI agents, hands‐on evaluation and direction‐setting across Claude Code, Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenAI. Not bolted on - central to the role.

* Language‐agnostic thinking (Go, Java, TypeScript, Python — whatever fits the problem)
* Influence without authority — you shift direction through credibility, not org chart
* Startup mindset inside a serious engineering org
* SOLID principles, code hygiene, system design — you care about how things are built
* We want someone who lives and breathes this stuff outside of work. Pet projects, strong opinions on what works and what doesn't in the LLM space, language‐agnostic, principle‐driven and genuinely excited about transforming how developers work through AI.
