Transport Planning Coordinator
At Wollongong City Council, we strive to deliver exceptional services, infrastructure, and facilities for our community. We are seeking a Transport Planning Coordinator to lead a small team of specialists and shape the strategic direction of transport planning across the LGA.
Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate the Transport Planning team, setting priorities and supporting performance and capability
* Manage and deliver a program of strategic transport planning work aligned to Council objectives
* Provide expert advice on transport planning, sustainable mode shift, and place‐based outcomes
* Develop and oversee transport strategies, plans, policies and investigations
* Work as a key internal referral point for development, infrastructure and planning matters
* Engage with state agencies, consultants, industry peers and community stakeholders
* Oversee budgets, funding opportunities and reporting requirements
* Communicate complex transport concepts clearly through reports, presentations and briefings
* Ensure strong governance, safety and compliance across transport planning activities
Qualifications
About You:
* A degree qualification in Transport Planning, Transport Engineering, Urban Planning, Urban Design or a related discipline
* Extensive experience in transport planning, including strategic transport planning and policy development
* Experience leading and managing a small professional team
* Experience managing a program of work from idea into implementation
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across technical, executive and community audiences
* A commitment to safety, governance, and professional integrity
* A commitment to Council's values of Respect, Integrity, OneTeam, Sustainability and Courage
* A current Class C Driver Licence
Other Requirements:
* Permanent, full‐time position, 35 hours per week. Salary range $125,236.03 to $138,992.64 plus superannuation, assessed on skills, experience and qualifications. 3.25% increase effective July 1, 2026.
* Class C Driver Licence required for site visits across the LGA
