What You'll Do - Legal Counsel (Permanent, Full-Time) As our Legal Counsel, this position works quite closely with our Head of Legal in a broad commercial role where you'll be a trusted advisor across the business and will provide practical, strategic legal advice across areas such as commercial contracts, employment, compliance and risk matters.
Provide legal advice to the business including resolving legal issues relating to employment, award interpretation, privacy, commercial risk, commercial contracting, incidents, disputes management and compliance matters.
Review, negotiate and amend commercial agreements
Position yourself as a trusted business partner to each department leader in respect to various day-to-day legal issues faced by the business.
Actively contribute to simplifying processes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement where applicable.
Actively monitor and advise the business about new or changing legislation, regulation and emerging risks.
Your Background This role is best suited to a motivated and hands-on commercial lawyer who thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments and is able to autonomously influence senior stakeholders in the business.
Admitted as a Legal Practitioner with a current Australian Practising Certificate
3+ years of post-admission commercial law experience
Strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to balance legal risk against commercial outcomes.
Experience in providing practical commercial solutions and advice for the business, appropriately balancing legal risk with commercial objectives
Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the confidence to engage directly with internal stakeholders
Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain legal issues in a clear, concise and commercial way.
Privacy and employment law experience is highly regarded
