The Opportunity
We’re searching for a friendly, reliable and detail-focused team member to join our Canberra store. This is a full-time role (38 hours per week) with the opportunity to grow as our business expands.
This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a mix of customer service, problem-solving, and hands-on technical tasks.
You’ll be helping customers sell unwanted jewellery, trade bullion, understand pricing, and feel supported throughout what can be an emotional or high-value interaction.
One moment you’ll be testing the purity of a gold item, the next you’ll be verifying ID, completing a transaction, or explaining how our buying process works. Calmness under pressure is essential — as is empathy, accuracy, and professionalism.
You’ll help customers feel informed, safe, and confident, ensuring every interaction reflects the standards and reputation Canberra Gold Buyers is known for. If you thrive in a role where trust, care, and precision matter, we’d love to meet you.
About You
You’re someone who brings integrity and emotional intelligence to every conversation. You know how to make people feel comfortable, respected, and heard — especially when the topic is sensitive or high-value.
You have experience in customer service, retail, sales, cash handling, or similar roles. You’re organised, reliable, and confident using technology. You can follow procedures carefully and understand the importance of compliance in a regulated industry.
You’re comfortable learning things like:
* Using XRF testing machines
* Identifying metals, hallmarks, and purity
* Verifying customer ID and completing regulated paperwork
* Managing sensitive information securely
You’re a team player who’s happy to jump in where needed — from processing daily purchases to helping with inventory, answering customer enquiries, or keeping the store running smoothly. Curiosity is a big plus: we love people who enjoy learning and improving.
