Launch Your Law Career with the Australian Government Graduate Program
This exciting opportunity is designed for law graduates who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of Australians.
* The Australian Government Graduate Program provides a unique gateway to an exciting and rewarding career in law within the Australian Government.
* You will have access to multiple opportunities as a law graduate with over 20 agencies participating in the program.
Our program consists of two sub-streams:
* Legal Policy
* Legal Practice
Both sub-streams offer fulfilling work, challenges, and opportunities to strengthen and grow your skill set. You will be supported throughout your professional development to enhance your legal expertise.
You may be placed in various roles within different agencies, depending on your interests and strengths. As a graduate, you will have the opportunity to:
* Commence in a full-time position within an Australian Government department or agency.
* Access mentoring and both on-the-job and formal learning and development opportunities.
* Advance to a higher classification and salary at the successful completion of the program.
About the Role
As a graduate in the AGGP Legal Stream, your work will differ based on the sub-stream and agency you are placed in. You may be asked to provide input into legal policy or assist with the administration of legal policy. Alternatively, you could be involved in providing legal advice as part of an in-house legal team within Commonwealth Government agencies.
You are in charge of your career and will have the opportunity to advise if you would like to be considered for Legal Policy, Legal Practice or both sub-streams, as well as preference which participating agencies you would like to work for.
The AGGP Legal Stream offers a fast-paced, supportive and flexible environment where you can make a real difference in the lives of Australians.
We encourage applications from First Nations candidates through our recruitment process.
Most graduate roles are based in Canberra, although some may be available in other Australian cities and major regional centres. Relocation assistance may be available for successful eligible candidates.
