**Job Description**:
- The Tax Specialist supports the Tax Manager - Australia across all aspects of Anglo American's presence in Australia to help drive forward the Group Tax vision to be recognised as a world-class tax team.
You will be responsible for:
- Support the Head of Tax - Marketing and Asia Pacific and Tax Manager - Australia in the implementation of tax initiatives and risk mitigation strategies for Anglo American's presence in Australia.
- Support the Head of Tax - Marketing and Asia Pacific and Tax Manager - Australia, identify and manage tax risks and opportunities arising from Anglo American's presence in Australia.
- Raise awareness of tax issues and effectively communicate tax issues to management.
- Assist and drive Group / BU tax strategic initiatives to create / protect / enhance value from a tax perspective.
- Support engagement on relevant tax legislation, administration or policy changes in Australia, consider their impact for the Anglo American Group and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Proactively support and partner with the business in Australia and within Group Tax function with the aim of creating sustainable value for the Anglo Group and leading change.
- Provide tax advisory support to Anglo American's Australian presence to ensure enhanced value and risk mitigation to the Anglo Group.
- Provide tax input on transactions including M&A; and business development opportunities within Australia.
- Provide support on cross border tax issues for Anglo American's Australian presence, working with a network of local tax advisors, internal Group Tax network (including Head of International Tax, Projects) to support Australian activities and ensure compliance with local laws.
- Ideation, development, and implementation of opportunities for the Anglo Group leveraging internal and external relationships. Provide business training on tax related matters and required and agreed with the BU from time-to-time.

**Qualifications**:
- To be successful in this role ideally you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting or Finance.
- Proven track record of having worked in a similar role in the tax field in Commerce with a big 4 accounting firm or a law firm.
- Charted Accountant and/or Charted Tax Adviser.
- Knowledge of the mining industry is preferable.
- Understanding of tax concepts and laws.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior management and other stakeholders effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing continuous improvement ideas.
