About the Project
The Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WA's next major water source — a new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos. At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean, safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year. The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.
About the Opportunity
To help us deliver this project, we are looking for a seasoned Deputy Construction Manager to join our team. Reporting directly to the Alliance Director, you will be responsible for the onsite delivery of the civil packages for the project. At the core of this role is leadership. In the Alliance Director's absence, you will take full leadership responsibilities, ensuring your team is working harmoniously to meet the needs of the client and ensuring all project objectives are met.
Key accountabilities for the position
* Ensure that the appropriate resources (including personnel) are in place with delegated responsibilities to guarantee quality, environmental and safety procedures are integrated.
* Oversee implementation of the Project Safety Plan.
* Maintain project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
* Manage construction budgets to allow accurately profit / loss forecasting.
* Monitor the financial performance of the project.
* Organise and co-ordinate the design team and clearly define design aspects such as who prepares, who reviews and who approves.
* Provide ongoing feedback, support, counsel, through informal discussion, regular review and formal performance appraisal and encourages feedback from staff.
Capability & Experience you will need to have
* Relevant tertiary qualifications.
* Preferable 10 years' experience in a construction/engineering environment.
* Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively with others.
* Problem solving / analytical skills.
* Competent in planning and organising work schedules.
* Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
