Full-time, fixed-term position for up to 4 years.
Academic Level A / Level B. Based at our#.
Responsibilities
Conduct research and develop a program in experimental, integrated quantum photonics and atom systems.
Establish capability to design, fabricate, characterise and test on-chip quantum devices.
Produce quality research output, publish in high-quality outlets and present at conferences.
Participate in the academic life of the School of Mathematics and Physics, give talks and attend seminars and group meetings.
Collaborate with colleagues and postgraduates on joint research projects.
Take a senior role in producing high-quality research output (Level B).
Participate or contribute as chief investigator in applications for competitive research funding.
Qualifications
PhD in Physics (or in progress) in related areas such as Photonics, Atomic Systems, or Quantum Engineering.
Strong background and demonstrated ability to carry out research in Photonics, Atomic Systems, or Quantum Engineering.
Experimental experience in fabrication and testing on platforms such as silicon-on-insulator, silicon nitride, lithium niobate, silicon carbide, silica.
Demonstrated research quality and creativity evidenced by highly cited publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
Ability to conduct research both independently and collaboratively.
Experience supervising research postgraduate and honours students.
High-level verbal, written communication skills and a sample of scientific writing.
For Level B: demonstrated capacity to take chief investigator role in funding applications, growing research profile and record of supervision.
