Job Description

Safer Lives Mobile Service (SLMS) is funded to support women and children and or other identified victims of domestic and family violence who are homeless or at risk of homelessness due to domestic and family violence. Safer Lives Mobile Service triage with women their immediate and longer-term housing needs. The Safer Lives Mobile Team works in partnership with Brisbane Domestic Violence Service and Micah Projects Housing and Homelessness Teams.

As a Specialist Domestic Violence and Housing Advocate, you will work as part of the team to provide mobile support to women and children, or other victims who are in housing crisis due to domestic and family violence to access safe affordable and appropriate emergency and long-term housing options.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position. The role is paid at Level 4 of the SCHADS Award .


Desired Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities:

* Support victims of domestic and family violence to access crisis accommodation and longer-term housing options.
* Respond to referrals from DV Connect, Qld Police Service, and Qld Health Social Workers.
* Provide outreach support and safety planning to women and children in motels.
* Assist women with emergency/crisis motel access 24/7.
* Provide case management, emotional support, safety planning, and advocacy.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, such as The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and The Child Protection Act 1999.
* Experience in human services, service navigation, local community support and collaborative teamwork.
* Ability to work across various shifts.
* Commitment to child and vulnerable adult safeguarding.
