A sensor driven company building technology meant for harsh environments for both civilian and defence applications is looking for a Senior Electronics Technician. The role emphasizes solid engineering principles, creative problem-solving, and a hands-on approach to building systems that operate in constrained or unconventional conditions.
In this role, you will assemble, test, and troubleshoot electronic systems, work closely with engineers and scientists, and ensure quality and documentation of prototypes. Mentoring junior technicians and improving lab processes may also be part of the role.
This is a full-time, Sydney-based role.
Full relocation is required for interstate candidates.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble, wire, and troubleshoot prototype electronic systems, including PCBAs, cable harnesses, and test rigs
* Conduct testing and validation of electronic systems using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, power supplies, and other laboratory equipment
* Support engineers in integrating electronics into complex quantum sensing prototypes
* Document builds, testing procedures, wiring diagrams, and lab processes to maintain reproducibility and quality
* Assist with procurement and supplier liaison for prototype components
* Maintain lab equipment, consumables, and adhere to safe laboratory practices
* Perform additional tasks aligned with your skills and experience, or with appropriate training
Your profile
* Diploma, associate degree, or equivalent qualification in electronics or a related field
* Proven hands-on experience with electronics assembly and testing at a senior level
* Experience working in R&D environments alongside engineers and scientists
* Strong practical skills in soldering (through-hole and fine-pitch SMT), cable harness fabrication, and prototype assembly
* Comfortable using electronic test equipment and reading schematics
* Experience in transitioning prototypes toward manufacturable designs is a plus
