About the Role
Shape your career by joining Alcoa's Vacation Student program! Based in VIC at our Portland Smelter, you'll have the chance to put your university knowledge into practice over a 12‐week paid summer placement. You'll experience professional growth, technical expansion, and become an integral part of our vibrant community.
What you'll be doing
* Assigned a project that delivers real value to the business and provides hands‐on industry experience.
* Assist in delivering smelter environmental management systems and related improvement projects.
* Identify and execute gap‐analysis projects, including task scheduling and prioritisation, stakeholder consultation, solution development, staff training and presentations.
* Be exposed to environmental monitoring and sampling, data entry and analysis.
* Assist investigations of environmental incidents and complaints.
* Coordinate periodic environmental reports and metrics to meet Alcoa's regulatory compliance and obligations.
* Handle assigned project(s) with suitable responsibility, applying innovative thinking and eagerness to learn.
Qualifications
* Currently studying tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or a related discipline.
* Ideally in penultimate year of study – applications for all year groups are accepted.
* Self‐motivated, passionate, eager to learn and expand knowledge.
* Capable of working independently while communicating and engaging with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong team player with effective time management, organisational and problem‐solving skills.
* Available to commence end of November for a full‐time 12‐week period ending February.
* Able to travel to and from work location each day.
