System Development Engineer, Core Networking
Job ID: 3194983 | Amazon Support Services Pty Ltd
Would you like to be an Engineer that builds the Cloud, rather than an Engineer that just uses it? At AWS, our Engineers look after the behind-the-scenes software and tools that make the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure possible.
We have an amazing opportunity for you to join a world‐class network team in a dynamic environment that has the feel of a start‐up. As a Systems Development Engineer you will help to deploy, manage, fix and reinvent the software tools, services and components that network engineering rely on to automate our network and keep it operational. You will actively be involved in innovating new software solutions to solve the challenges of operating the AWS network. Your internal customers are your network engineer colleagues, and through close collaboration, support and exchange of ideas, we share a common goal to serve our external customers and grow through learning and innovation.
If you are exceptionally motivated and passionate about the work you do then we welcome you to join us, working in an Agile environment with the most advanced tools, processes and talented people in the industry to make the Cloud a reality.
Key Job Responsibilities
* Identifying and solving challenging systems, process and tooling issues to make things better for our customers
* Designing and implementing entire new software components, products or services which improve operational efficiency
* Investigating technical issues thoroughly, performing root cause analysis, identifying changes to procedures and systems and implementing long‐term fixes to avoid repeating issues.
* Providing solutions to technically challenging real business problems in a global organization
* Hold or be able to attain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency clearance (see https://www.agsva.gov.au/applicants/eligibility-and-suitability)
A Day in the Life
As a Systems Development Engineer you are responsible for maintaining your team's services, troubleshooting, and identifying root causes of issues. You will use testing, monitoring, and validations on services, tools, and infrastructure to ensure continuous deployment with minimal interruption. You will identify areas to invent, refine, and develop automation and tools to reduce manual operations and meet business and customer requirements.

AWS values diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications and skills listed in the job description, we encourage candidates to apply.
