About the Role
We are seeking a Geotechnical Design Engineer with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience to join our team and play a key role in the delivery of geotechnical investigations, design, and construction-phase support.
This is a technically engaging role offering increasing responsibility and autonomy, supported by senior engineers and a collaborative team environment. You will be involved in projects from early investigation through to design and construction, managing delivery, attending site inspections and client meetings, developing geotechnical and structural solutions, and assisting in leading project teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Scoping and management of geotechnical investigations
Slope stability analysis
Safety in Design
Soil-structure finite element analysis (experience in geotechnical finite element modelling is mandatory)
Site characterisation and determination of geotechnical parameters
Analysis using spreadsheets and software for: foundation and retaining wall systems, earthworks and temporary working platforms, ground improvement, temporary works designs, bearing capacity analysis, pavement design.
Geotechnical design and analysis
Preparation of geotechnical reports and design documentation
Interpretation of field and laboratory test data
Collaboration with civil, structural and construction teams
Providing technical input during construction where required
Project management of large geotechnical consulting projects
Assist in preparing and reviewing scope and fee proposal submissions prepared by junior engineers.
Work collaboratively with Civil Consults existing team to scope, manage and deliver projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard
Office management
Strict management of budgets, project timeframes and design/construction quality
Assist in implementation, maintenance and improvement of systems and QA
WHS/OHS management
Assist in professional development of junior staff
Develop and maintain client relationships
Identify and pursue business opportunities to grow the geotechnical business unit
About You
You will ideally have:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years' experience in geotechnical, civil design engineering
Sound knowledge of Australian Standards (including AS 1726)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
A practical, solutions-focused approach to design
Experience with slope stability, retaining wall design, and construction-phase support will be highly regarded.

Minimum qualifications and skills
Australian tertiary qualification in Geotechnical/Civil/Structural Engineering
3-5 years Australian design/ engineering experience
Excellent communication and client management skills
A full Australian Drivers License
Australian work rights
Experienced in geotechnical design, analysis, investigations and reporting (finite element analysis, slope stability analysis, pile and retaining wall design, pavement design, foundation bearing capacity and settlement analysis using industry standard software packages.
Proficient with software packages such as Circly, Plaxis (or other FEA analysis package), L-Pile, Rocscience Slide, AutoCAD and Microsoft office.
Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
Familiarity with standards and methods applicable to geotechnical design
Proficient at speaking and writing English
Additional Qualifications (Highly Regarded)
Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ)
Experience in business development and client networking
